ICA

OpenTAS Instruments Control and Automation (ICA) is a ‘one-stop’ solution for customers that require engineering and measurement systems to be integrated within one package, allowing all instruments and supervisory devices to work seamlessly with a variety of IT solutions. Implico is able to provide a full-fledged end-to-end implementation within a greenfield or brownfield environment including design, procurement, engineering, integration, testing, commissioning and maintenance.

Benefits of OpenTAS ICA
  • Allows the facility to be automated thereby improving efficiency
  • Improves health, safety and security within the facility
  • Reduces the probability of environmental pollution
  • Decreases operational risk to the terminal operator / owner
  • Enables accurate monitoring and control of inventory parameters without human intervention
  • Real time inventory data from field equipment to OpenTAS TAS

Solutions offered by OpenTAS ICA

  • Gantry Loading Systems
The gantry loading system typically consists of gantry skids which accurately meter and automatically delivers the required batch quantity of product into the tank trucks in a safe manner.

  • Automatic Tank Gauging Systems
Automatic tank gauging is performed through electronic gauges mounted on the top of each tank. Implico is able to provide tank gauging systems for both custody transfer and non-custody transfer.

  • Programmable Automation Controllers
The Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) is utilized to perform automated control and monitoring of various processes in a terminal. Implico’s tight integration between the programming software, controller, I/O and OpenTAS reduces development time and cost during project execution, whilst improving the efficiency of how the data is handled, processes and presented.

  • Emergency Shutdown Systems
The Emergency Shutdown System (ESD) typically consists of a safety PAC which is certified to the required SIL level (normally SIL 2 or SIL 3). The safety PAC is primarily utilized to supervise, control and monitor safety critical instruments, equipment and systems which require fail-safe or fault tolerant control philosophies.

  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems
A Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system supervises, monitors and controls the terminal operations from an integrated viewpoint. The SCADA system is connected to the information layer network (TCP/IP) and will be able to communicate with various nodes to aid interrogation of information. The SCADA system typically consists of a graphical user interface which acts as a visualization platform, allowing the terminal operator to control & monitor the terminal from the control room.

  • Bulk Metering System
A metering skid is utilized to accurately and safely meter the quantity of liquid discharged into the terminal by a sea-going vessel or vice versa. All field mounted equipment is certified for use in hazardous areas. Implico is also able to supply a dedicated proving system consisting of bi-directional provers or compact provers for meter-factor verification and validation.

  • CCTV System
The CCTV system allows the terminal operator to monitor the daily terminal operations and provide a high level of security within the terminal. The CCTV system is usually utilized to monitor the perimeter of the terminal, gantry bays, office area, car park, tank farm, jetty and other key operational areas.

  • Access Control System
Access Control systems are an effective tool in helping to identify authorized users, fighting criminal activity and reducing anti-social behaviour. It achieves this by a three-pronged approach of deterrence, detection and evidence. The access control system is typically installed at key entry and exit points within a terminal. In addition, Implico has introduced biometric kiosks within unmanned / minimally manned terminals.
